Hacked scapula

Ram scapula with butchering marks that may show intentional patterning.

Also drilled with a series of holes that may have had divinatory purpose.

I would very much welcome any further interpretation of this specimen.

    Thanks for your reply. The holes in this scapula are very interesting but it’s not a human bone/scapula. What length is it?

    Many thanks to Ian Smith and Dr Jacqui Mulville for correcting me on the species – the butchered scapula would appear to be of ovine rather than hominid origin …
